160 FNUS54 KMAF 240848 FWFMAF Fire Weather Planning Forecast for West Texas/Southeast New Mexico National Weather Service Midland/Odessa TX 348 AM CDT Fri May 24 2024 ...FIRE WEATHER WATCH IN EFFECT FROM SATURDAY MORNING THROUGH SATURDAY EVENING... .DISCUSSION... Poor moisture recovery persists each morning along and west of the Pecos with humidity falling to 5 percent and lower each afternoon through Monday. Winds remain on the light side today, limiting fire conditions to elevated/near-critical with IA potential being the main concern. Increased winds send fire conditions towards critical-extreme for Saturday and a Fire Weather Watch has been issued across southeastern New Mexico and portions of West Texas as such. Lighter winds limit fire concerns largely to the western high terrain on Sunday. Low fire concerns follow for Monday and through the work-week with better moisture and light winds. && For point-specific forecasts please see the Point Fire Weather Matrix product issued by the Midland/Odessa National Weather Service Office.
