Fire Weather Planning Forecast for West Texas/Southeast New Mexico
National Weather Service Midland/Odessa TX
102 PM CST Wed Dec 3 2025

.DISCUSSION...

Fire weather concerns remain low through the next week. Temperatures
take a tumble Thursday behind a cold front that knocks us back well
below normal. Tonight, there is a low (10-30%) chance of precipitation
across southeast New Mexico, with light snow showers and a possibility
of a wintry mix over northern Lea County. Thursday afternoon and
evening, there will be low (10-30%) rain chances over the Big Bend.
Winds are expected to become strong over the Guadalupe/Delaware
mountains Friday and Saturday afternoons, elevating fire weather
concerns. Though these will be limited by ERCs below the 50th
percentile, min RHs above critical thresholds, and good to excellent
RH recovery overnight.

For point-specific forecasts please see the Point Fire Weather
Matrix product issued by the Midland/Odessa National Weather
Service Office.
