Areas affected...southeast Texas Panhandle

Concerning...Severe Thunderstorm Watch 251...

Valid 300214Z - 300315Z

The severe weather threat for Severe Thunderstorm Watch 251
continues.

SUMMARY...The threat for isolated occurrences of large hail and
severe wind gusts will continue in the southeast Texas Panhandle,
potentially into southwest OK through 03 or 04 UTC. An additional
downstream watch is not anticipated.

DISCUSSION...As of 02:10 UTC, an intense thunderstorm was located
over southern Donley and northern Hall Counties in the southeast TX
Panhandle, moving east at 30-35 kt. Extrapolation of current motion
takes the storm into southwest OK by about 03 UTC. The inflow air
mass remains relatively warm and moderately unstable, with gradually
increasing convective inhibition. However, the presence of an active
cold pool and some semblance of mid-level updraft rotation may
sustain a continued large hail and/or damaging wind threat for the
next hour or two.

Given the expected, limited spatiotemporal nature of the threat, an
additional watch is not expected.
