Fire Weather Forecast for southern Oregon and northern California
National Weather Service Medford, OR
1203 PM PDT Sun Aug 23 2026

...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 11 AM TO 8 PM PDT MONDAY FOR
STRONG GUSTY WIND AND LOW RH FOR FIRE WEATHER ZONES 280, 281,
621, 622, AND 623...

.DISCUSSION...Warm and seasonable conditions are expected today,
with typical diurnal winds. Above normal temperatures return
Monday and Tuesday, then seasonable conditions return midweek into
next weekend, with periods of enhanced afternoon winds possible.
Monday`s above normal temperatures will lead to a very dry
afternoon, and when combined with the strong gusty winds, we will
have critical fire weather conditions develop through the daytime
hours. As a result, a Red Flag Warning has been issued for Monday.
Additionally, there is a slight chance of thunderstorms Monday
afternoon across far eastern Lake and Modoc counties, mainly
along the Warner and Hart Mountains.
