For the Beach Hazards Statement, dangerous rip currents, large breaking waves, and hazardous debris expected in the surf zone. * WHERE...Northern Outer Banks ocean-side locales that experienced weakening of dune structures over the last few days. For soundside localized flooding, low-lying areas prone to sound- side flooding in and near Manteo. * WHEN...For the Coastal Flood Advisory, until midnight EDT tonight. For the Beach Hazards Statement, through this evening. * IMPACTS...Up to 1 to 2 feet of inundation above ground level is possible in low-lying areas near shorelines and tidal waterways with compromised dune structures resulting in a low threat of property damage. Dangerous swimming and surfing conditions and localized beach erosion. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS...The next oceanside high tide times are around 8:30 PM Sunday. The soundside high times are around 11:30 AM Sunday and midnight Sunday night. The most likely time for strong rip currents to occur is a couple hours either side of low tide, which will occur around 2:30 PM Sunday. PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS... If travel is required, allow extra time as some roads may be closed. Do not drive around barricades or through water of unknown depth. Take the necessary actions to protect flood-prone property. Inexperienced swimmers should remain out of the water due to dangerous surf conditions.
