Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Eastern North Carolina
National Weather Service Newport/Morehead City NC
304 PM EST Fri Nov 28 2025

.DISCUSSION....

...Gusty Winds and Low Relative Humidities This Afternoon...

Cold, dry and breezy conditions persist this afternoon as Arctic high
pressure builds in behind the front. High pressure builds overhead
Saturday with continued dry but less windy conditions. The high
slides offshore early next week with southerly return flow
increasing moisture and a chance of showers ahead of the next
frontal system.

Fire weather concerns linger through the rest of this afternoon
as winds gust to 20-25 mph and RHs fall to 20-30%. Fire weather
risk declines tomorrow as winds fall to 5 kt or less despite RHs
staying at the 25-35% range.
