Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Eastern North Carolina
National Weather Service Newport/Morehead City NC
344 AM EDT Thu Jun 20 2024

.DISCUSSION...
High pressure ridging remains over the Carolinas keeping a dry
airmass locked in place with winds holding east to southeasterly
through the period. Winds remain around 10 mph with a few gusts
near 15 to 20 mph. Min RHs this afternoon will drop to 35-40%
across the coastal plain. We`re experiencing a warming trend,
which will have afternoon high temperatures reaching the mid to
upper 90s across the coastal plain each afternoon. A few isolated
sprinkles are possible today, and a slight chance for showers
exists along the immediate coast through the weekend, but the
next appreciable rainfall for the coastal plain is not expected
until the beginning of next week.
