Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Eastern North Carolina
National Weather Service Newport/Morehead City NC
324 AM EDT Fri Oct 2 2026

.DISCUSSION...
High pressure centered offshore through today ahead
of a front that will cross SAT. Increasing Serly winds
bring higher moisture content (increasing MinRHS, low
40%s inland) and heat this afternoon (MaxTs in low 90s
away from immediate coast. Fire concerns remain low.
However, this will also bring an increased risk for fog across
ENC this morning into the weekend. Dense fog already in
place over all SWern zones this morning. Winds become SWerly
today ahead of the next front. This front arrives SAT and
brings periods of widespread beneficial rain to ENC.
A secondary cold front crossing the FA MON leads to a period
of dry high pressure with NEerly flow regime into midweek.
