Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Eastern North Carolina
National Weather Service Newport/Morehead City NC
307 PM EDT Sat Sep 12 2026

.DISCUSSION...
Significant fire concerns are not anticipated over the next few
days, but a notable northerly wind shift will occur Monday
afternoon as a cold front moves through.

High relative humidity and a risk of wetting rainfall will help
to keep fire concerns low through Sunday, and even into most of
Monday. Late Monday into Monday night, a cold front will move
south through the area with a notable wind shift, as well as a
notable increase in winds (15-25 mph). Much drier air will move in
behind the front as well.
