Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Eastern North Carolina
National Weather Service Newport/Morehead City NC
133 PM EDT Fri Oct 17 2025

.DISCUSSION....
NW winds are gusting to around 20 mph with RHs in the upper-30s to
low-40s across the coastal plain. Winds will be lighter tomorrow
(10 mph or less) and an increase in moisture will support higher
min RHs in the mid- to upper-40s across the coastal plain.

The next cold front forecast to move through the area will be late
Sunday into Monday, which will bring a 20-40% chance of rain. A
combination of gustier winds and lower dewpoints may raise fire
weather concerns for Monday, especially if the front trends drier.
