Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Eastern North Carolina
National Weather Service Newport/Morehead City NC
143 PM EDT Wed Apr 2 2025

.DISCUSSION....
A modest easterly flow will continue today, become southerly
tonight, and remain southerly for several days. This type of
regime supports increased low-level moisture and higher relative
humidity (RH). Therefore, despite breezy conditions, the higher RH
and active greenup should help to offset the fire concerns. The
lack of appreciable rainfall over the past month still can`t be
ignored. Additionally, well above normal, to near record, warmth
is expected later this week into this weekend. While this will
continue to help accelerate greenup, it will also continue to
further the drought due to a continued lack of appreciable
rainfall. The next chance of wetting precipitation looks to come
late this weekend or early next week.
