Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Eastern North Carolina
National Weather Service Newport/Morehead City NC
200 PM EDT Wed Oct 8 2025

.DISCUSSION....
Showers and thunderstorms will be possible this afternoon ahead of
an approaching cold front. The cold front will lead to a sharp north
to northeast wind shift this evening with a period of gusty winds
expected. The airmass will be noticeably drier behind the front, and
will be accompanied by continued breezy conditions. Despite the
potential for rainfall today, the breezy and dry conditions are notable
for any fire starts or ongoing fires.
