Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Eastern North Carolina
National Weather Service Newport/Morehead City NC
206 PM EDT Sat Aug 30 2025

.DISCUSSION....
The risk of significant fire concerns appears LOW through Monday.

A mostly dry, northeasterly flow is expected to persist through
Monday across ENC. Isolated to scattered showers will be possible
during this time, but mainly confined to areas along the coast
from the Southern OBX to the Crystal Coast. While the airmass will
be dry, it will also be cooler than normal, and this will help
keep relative humidities from getting too low. The dry conditions
and modest northeasterly winds should be accounted for with any
prescribed or unplanned fires, but significant fire concerns are
not expected.
