Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Eastern North Carolina
National Weather Service Newport/Morehead City NC
308 AM EDT Wed Oct 8 2025

.DISCUSSION....
Light southerly flow will support higher relative humidities
today, which will eventually support an increased risk of showers
and thunderstorms as a cold front moves through. That cold front
will lead to a sharp north to northeast wind shift, with a period
of gusty winds expected. The airmass will be noticeably drier
behind the front, and will be accompanied by continued breezy
conditions. Despite the potential for wetting rainfall today, the
breezy and dry conditions are notable for any fire starts or
ongoing fires.
