.DISCUSSION...
Hot and humid August days, with scattered (50-60%) showers and
storms in the afternoons and evenings to end the week. Light
offshore flow persists, delaying the sea breeze in the afternoons.
Convection is forecast to initially be focused along the sea breeze,
then propagation will become erratic due to slow storm motions. Dry
air aloft will support strong wind gusts to 50-55 mph, in addition
to lightning strikes, small hail and locally heavy rainfall. Heat
will remain a concern, with highs in the lower to mid-90s. Peak
afternoon heat indices remain near heat advisory criteria in the
U100-L112 through Friday. Poor to fair dispersion today is forecast
to improve to fair to good Friday. No min RH concerns.
Fog potential...Widespread fog is not forecast. Localized visibility
reductions due to smoke from new or existing fires will be possible
even if fog is not forecast.
