.DISCUSSION...
Southwest flow prevails over the Florida peninsula through mid-week,
as the Atlantic ridge axis remains south of the area. Wind speeds
around 10 mph this afternoon increase to 10-15 mph Wednesday and
Thursday, with gusts 20-25 mph. SW flow will keep the east coast sea
breeze pinned to the coast. Near normal shower and storm chances
today (30-50%) decrease slightly into Wednesday (20-40%), before
high coverage returns into late week. Storm hazards will include
frequent lightning strikes, wind gusts of 45 to 55 mph, and heavy
downpours that may lead to minor, localized flooding in some spots.
Activity will peak in the afternoons, then push offshore and
diminish into the overnight hours through Wednesday. Generally good
afternoon smoke dispersion values are forecast areawide each
afternoon, with no min RH concerns.
High temperatures in the 90s are forecast each day. Heat indices are
expected to reach 102-109 degrees today, with a Heat Advisory in
effect from Orange and northern Brevard Counties northward.
Additional Heat Advisories will be possible Wednesday, as hot
temperatures persist. Higher coverage of showers and storms Thursday
will begin to limit the heat threat into the weekend.
Fog potential...Widespread fog is not forecast. Localized visibility
reductions due to smoke from new or existing fires will be possible
even if fog is not forecast.
