.DISCUSSION...
Scattered showers and lightning storms are beginning to develop
along the coast along the sea breeze, as well as have moved into
across the northern part of the ECFL from the west coast. Additional
storms are forecast to develop over the interior with boundary
collisions late in the day into early evening. Frequent lightning
strikes, wind gusts from 45 to 55 mph, and torrential rain is
expected from the strongest storms. Light south to southwest winds
will become southeast 10 to 15 mph in the afternoon behind the sea
breeze.
On Saturday, winds become more onshore, out of the east to southeast
at 10 to 15 mph. Scattered to numerous showers and storms are once
again forecast Saturday. Showers and storms will first initialize
across the coast by late morning before increasing in coverage and
focusing across the interior in the afternoon and early evening.
Hot and humid conditions persist into the weekend, with heat indices
from 100 to 106 and no low RH concerns.
Smoke dispersion values will be Fair to generally Good today and
Saturday.
Fog potential...Widespread fog is not forecast. Localized visibility
reductions due to smoke from new or existing fires will be possible
even if fog is not forecast.
