.DISCUSSION...
The Atlantic ridge axis remains south of the area through mid-week,
maintaining southwest flow across east central Florida. Wind speeds
increase to around 10 mph in the afternoons through Tuesday, then
near 15 mph Wednesday, pinning the sea breeze the to coast.
Scattered showers and storms are forecast each afternoon, with
activity favored on the eastern half of the peninsula thanks to the
pinned east coast sea breeze. Storm hazards will include frequent
lightning strikes, wind gusts of 45 to 55 mph, and heavy downpours
that may lead to minor, localized flooding in some spots. Activity
will peak in the afternoons, then push offshore and diminish into
the overnight hours. Generally good afternoon smoke dispersion
values are forecast areawide each afternoon, with no min RH concerns.
High temperatures in the 90s are forecast each afternoon. Heat
indices are expected to reach 102-109 degrees today, with a Heat
Advisory in effect from Orange and northern Brevard Counties
northward. Additional Heat Advisories will be possible this week,
as hot temperatures persist.
Fog potential...Widespread fog is not forecast. Localized visibility
reductions due to smoke from new or existing fires will be possible
even if fog is not forecast.
