.DISCUSSION...
Tropical Storm Bertha is forecast to continue to slowly move
westward along to just south of the northern Gulf Coast through
midweek. This will result in the pressure gradient across the local
area to weaken as Bertha moves further westward. Winds will be out
of the south-southeast today, increasing to around 10 mph inland and
up to 10-15 mph along the coast behind the east coast sea breeze.
Then on Thursday, winds will predominately remain out of the east-
southeast around 5-10 mph, and easterly on Friday. Drier air will
also lead to below normal rain chances today and Thursday, but
isolated to scattered showers and storms will still be possible each
afternoon and evening. Lingering dry air across the north on Friday
will keep rain chances limited, with moisture increasing across the
south, causing a return of near to above normal rain chances.
Despite the drier air, there are no minimum RH concerns anticipated.
Dispersion values will range from good to very good today and good
to very good on Thursday and Friday. The lack of rainfall and
moisture combined with a return of high pressure overhead will lead
to increasing temperatures across east central Florida, with highs
reaching the low to mid 90s and peak heat indices exceeding 100F
areawide.
Fog potential...Widespread fog is not forecast. Localized visibility
reductions due to smoke from new or existing fires will be possible
even if fog is not forecast.
