Fire Weather Planning Forecast for East Central Florida
National Weather Service Melbourne FL
300 AM EDT Tue Aug 18 2026

...HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 10 AM THIS MORNING TO 8 PM EDT
THIS EVENING...

.DISCUSSION...

High pressure south of east central Florida will result in
persistent light westerly flow locally. The east coast sea breeze
will develop each afternoon, slowly progressing inland and causing
winds to become more south to southeasterly along the coast. Wind
speeds are forecast to remain below 15 mph over the next several
days outside of convection. No minimum RH concerns. Afternoon smoke
dispersion values will be generally good today and fair to good on
Wednesday. A Heat Advisory is in effect between 10 AM and 8 PM for
peak heat indices of 108F to 112F.

A return of near-normal shower and storm chances is anticipated
areawide today into Wednesday, with activity being driven by the sea
breezes. Storms will be capable of producing lightning strikes,
gusty winds of 45 to 55 mph, and heavy downpours that could lead to
minor, localized flooding. Activity will push offshore into the
evening hours.

Fog potential...Widespread fog is not forecast. Localized visibility
reductions due to smoke from new or existing fires will be possible
even if fog is not forecast.
