.DISCUSSION...
Deep moisture is forecast to build over the region late this week
into the Labor Day weekend. As a result, rain and lightning storm
chances will be maximized each afternoon and evening (60-80%).
Frequent lightning strikes, wind gusts to 50 mph, and torrential
rainfall are possible with organized storms. Outside of lightning
strikes, there are no fire major fire weather concerns. Light winds
in the morning hours will veer onshore as the east coast breeze
develops, remaining generally 15 mph or less. Poor to fair smoke
dispersion is forecast today and Friday with fair to good dispersion
on Saturday. Temperatures in the upper 80s to low 90s, combined with
high humidity, results in forecast heat indices up to 103 degrees
today and Friday.
Fog potential and other remarks...Widespread fog is not forecast.
However, localized visibility reductions due to smoke from new or
existing fires will be possible even if fog is not forecast.
