.DISCUSSION...
Below normal shower and storm chances will continue through the end
of this week, as high pressure dominates the local weather pattern.
Scattered showers and storms (30-40%) are forecast for portions of
the area each afternoon, though most locations will likely remain
dry. Convection is forecast to peak along the sea breeze and outflow
collisions in the afternoon, though storms may linger through the
evening hours due to slow storm motions. Drier air aloft could
support a few strong wind gusts near 50 mph in any storms, as well
as lightning strikes and locally heavy downpours producing quick
accumulations of 1-3".
Light offshore winds prevail, backing S/SE at the coast in the
afternoons with the development of the sea breeze, though winds will
remain 10 mph or less. No min RH concerns, with fair to good
dispersion. High temperatures in the lower to mid-90s and humid
conditions will continue to lead to heat indices over 100 degrees.
Will need to monitor the need for additional Heat Advisories (heat
indices 108+) into the weekend.
Fog potential...Widespread fog is not forecast.
Localized visibility reductions due to smoke from new or existing
fires will be possible even if fog is not forecast.
