Fire Weather Planning Forecast for East Central Florida
National Weather Service Melbourne FL
300 AM EDT Sat Aug 8 2026

.DISCUSSION...

Atlantic ridge axis remains north of the area this weekend, with
winds remaining mostly onshore. Winds will start off out of the
south-southeast this morning around 5-10 mph, before becoming east-
southeast up to 10-15 mph behind the inland moving east coast sea
breeze. Winds will remain out of the east-southeast into Sunday,
with wind speeds again increasing up to 10-15 mph in the afternoon.
A moist airmass will still lead to scattered to numerous showers and
storms this afternoon and evening (rain chances up to 40-70%), with
decreasing coverage of this activity Sunday (rain chances 30-50%). A
few stronger storms will be possible each day, producing strong wind
gusts to 40-50 mph, frequent lightning and locally heavy rainfall.

No Min RH concerns are forecast, with dispersion values ranging from
fair to generally good both today and Sunday. Hot and humid
conditions forecast through the weekend, with highs in the low 90s
for most locations and peak heat index values 102-107F.

Fog potential...Widespread fog is not forecast. Localized visibility
reductions due to smoke from new or existing fires will be possible
even if fog is not forecast.
