            *** 1 FATAL ***
            DELAYED. Volusia County Beach Safety Patrol
            and Sheriffs Office reported that a call
            came in at 7:36 PM on July 3rd, 2026, for
            two swimmers caught in a rip current just
            south of Daytona Beach Pier at an unguarded
            beach. One swimmer was rescued but the
            other, a 17-year old male from Orlando, went
            missing. Lifeguards and other responding
            agencies searched until 9:30 PM, then
            resumed the next morning (Saturday
            07/04/2026) when the victims body was
            recovered around 9:00 AM.
