Latest water vapor imagery shows zonal flow over the southeast,
with upper ridging building over the southern Plains. Isolated
thunderstorms have continued to develop along the coast, but have
remained relatively short-lived given the week subsidence aloft.
Enough moisture is in place in the lower levels for partly to
mostly cloudy skies, which has tempered our daytime heating
somewhat. That said, high temperatures will likely max out in the
mid 90s areawide. Heat indices remain below advisory criteria
(>107 degrees), but caution should still be used if spending a lot
of time outdoors.

Upper ridging will continue to build through the end of the week
while surface high pressure settles along the Gulf. This will
keep mostly dry conditions through the remainder of the week, the
exception being along the immediate coast where the seabreeze may
spark very isolated thunderstorms. The main threat will continue
to be the heat as temps rise each day, eventually topping out in
the triple digits by the weekend. As the actual air temp
approaches 102 to 103 degrees, heat indices will climb into the
110-113 range for the majority of the area and heat headlines will
likely be needed by the end of the week. /73

Aside from very isolated and short-lived thunderstorms along the
coast, VFR conditions will prevail through the period. There may
be some instances when cigs briefly drop to MVFR but confidence is
too low to add prevailing MVFR cigs in the forecast. /73
