- Heat indices around 100-107 degrees are expected Wednesday,
  increasing to 105-112 degrees for Friday into early next week.

- A Moderate risk of rip currents returns to Florida beaches
  Wednesday afternoon through Thursday.

An upper ridge builds over the region through Friday and persists
into the weekend with only some minor weakening seen early next
week. A surface ridge remains oriented mainly over the northern
Gulf through early next week and promotes a predominately
southwesterly flow. The pattern supports a trend of increasingly
hotter temperatures each day along with progressively higher heat
index values. Highs on Wednesday will range from the lower 90s at
the coast to the mid/upper 90s further inland then trend to the
mid 90s to 100 by Friday with a bit higher values anticipated this
weekend. Heat index values on Wednesday will range from 100-107
with a few spots reaching 108+, but this looks too limited in
coverage to support a Heat Advisory at the moment. This changes
going into Friday by which time heat index values look to mostly
range from 105-112. Am anticipating that for Thursday a Heat
Advisory will likely become necessary for the coastal counties
stretching into southeast Mississippi. A Heat Advisory looks
indicated for most of the area from Friday through Monday, with
the potential for an Extreme Heat Warning becoming necessary for
the coastal counties.

Isolated to possibly scattered convection develops on Wednesday
mainly along and east of I-65 with the sea breeze, then coverage
on Thursday and Friday looks confined to isolated coverage over
the easternmost portions of the area. Isolated to possibly
scattered convection is anticipated for Saturday and Sunday as
better deep layer moisture is advected into the area along with a
weak surface trof which may affect the area. Isolated convection
at best follows for Monday. A low risk of rip currents is
anticipated for beach areas through Saturday, except for a
moderate risk for the western Florida panhandle from Wednesday
night through Thursday night. /29
