219 FXUS64 KMOB 051915 AFDMOB Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Mobile AL 115 PM CST Thu Nov 5 2026 ...New DISCUSSION, MARINE... .KEY MESSAGES... Issued at 115 PM CST Thu Nov 5 2026 - Patchy fog is expected late tonight into Friday morning mainly for areas east of I-65. Areas of fog may develop but widespread dense fog is not expected at this time. - A much cooler and drier airmass moves into the area this weekend into early next week. Lows in the 40`s can be expected widespread across the area, to even mid to upper 30`s for inland/northern areas where patchy frost will be possible. - Moderate to occasional strong northerly winds over the Gulf Friday night into the weekend will create hazardous conditions for small craft. && .DISCUSSION... Issued at 115 PM CST Thu Nov 5 2026 Isolated to scattered showers are expected to linger this evening across portions of northwest Florida into south central Alabama ahead of a stationary boundary situated near I-65. Patchy fog is expected late tonight into Friday morning mainly for areas east of I-65. Areas of fog may develop, but widespread dense fog is not expected at this time. This front will begin to migrate southeast this evening and move off the coast by daybreak Friday as a strong surface high pressure area builds into the region from the northwest over the weekend. A much cooler and drier airmass will then filter into the region from the north over the weekend into early next week. This will allow low temperatures to drop mainly into the 40s area-wide both Saturday and Sunday nights, but mid to upper 30s area forecast for inland/northern areas where patchy frost will be possible. Dry weather conditions will largely persist through the remainder of the forecast. /22 && .AVIATION... (18Z TAFS) Issued at 1209 PM CST Thu Nov 5 2026 Pesky low stratus and a few heavier showers causing VIS/CIG reductions across coastal and eastern terminals are expected to diminish through early afternoon. A few southeastern locations may keep MVFR CIGs, while the remainder of thlows tempeaturerse area becomes predominantly VFR through late afternoon. Chances are increasing that lower CIGs will develop around dusk, mainly east of I-65. IFR conditions may develop over some terminals (including PNS) between around 03Z and 08Z, but not enough confidence to introduce in TAFs at this time. Localized patchy fog also cannot be ruled out tonight. Otherwise, VFR conditions will prevail. Generally light and variable winds are expected today and tonight, becoming northerly Friday morning at around 5-10 knots. JGC/98 && .MARINE... Issued at 115 PM CST Thu Nov 5 2026 Light southwesterly to westerly winds this evening will shift northwesterly to northerly late tonight into Friday as a cold front slips through the area. Small craft over the Gulf should exercise caution at a minimum late Friday into Saturday as winds increase to 15-20kts with wave/seas responding to 2-3ft (3-4ft outer Gulf). A Small Craft Advisory may become necessary for the Gulf waters beyond 20 NM Friday night into Saturday morning as northerly winds increase well behind the cold front. Winds remain elevated going into Sunday and small craft should continue to exercise caution. /22 && .PRELIMINARY POINT TEMPS/POPS...
