403 FNUS53 KMQT 021001 FWFMQT FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR UPPER MICHIGAN National Weather Service Marquette MI 601 AM EDT Tue Sep 2 2025 .DISCUSSION... Mostly sunny skies today give way to clouds and showers/storms over the west this afternoon as a cold front approaches from northern Ontario. However, ahead of the cloud cover and convection today, we could see min RHs drop down to around 40% this afternoon. In addition, while winds are projected to be pretty light today, expect them to slowly increase from the southwest with time. As the convection continues to move through the rest of the U.P. tonight through Wednesday, expect most of Upper Michigan to receive a wetting (0.10-0.20") rainfall, with some spots potentially seeing up to an inch or more. After the cold front and main line of convection is through, expect much cooler temperatures behind the front, with lake enhanced/effect rain showers to develop over the northwest wind belts Wednesday night through Thursday. In addition, expect gusty northwest winds Wednesday behind the front across the area, with the Keweenaw potentially seeing gusts of 30+ mph by Wednesday afternoon.
