618 FNUS53 KMQT 161002 FWFMQT FIRE WEATHER PLANNING FORECAST FOR UPPER MICHIGAN National Weather Service Marquette MI 601 AM EDT Mon Jun 16 2025 .DISCUSSION...Today, a few isolated showers in the morning and early afternoon could (20-30 percent) have thunder by the mid-afternoon hours ahead of a strong system of thunderstorms arriving in the evening to overnight hours. By sunset, one to three tenths of an inch of rain is forecast. South to southwest winds of 5 to 10 mph gusting to 15 mph are expected (variable in the vicinity of the Lake Superior lake breeze) with RHs only falling to the mid 50s percent to 70 percent range. Tonight, a stronger system of thunderstorms is expected to move through the region, with chances of thunderstorms over 50 percent in the west and around 30 percent in the east. Rain totals are expected to be around a half inch by sunrise, though locally higher in areas directly affected by stronger storms. Tuesday, a few lingering showers are possible (20-40 percent) with chances of thunder around 15 percent, though rain totals are expected to be under a tenth of an inch. Expect minimum RHs to fall to the 50s percent range in the interior west and 60s to lower 70s percent range elsewhere. Winds will be west to northwest at 10 to 15 mph with gusts to 20 mph.
