250 FNUS73 KMQT 090207 FWSMQT Spot Forecast for Pelkie Spot...MI DNR National Weather Service Marquette MI 1007 PM EDT Thu May 8 2025 Forecast is based on forecast start time of 2200 EDT on May 08. If conditions become unrepresentative...contact the National Weather Service. .DISCUSSION... A potential wildfire has been spotted just southeast of Pelkie this evening. Given the location, it is likely a grass fire, with the light lake winds pushing the smoke plume direction initially southeastwards this evening. However, with calm winds developing overnight, expect an inversion near the sfc to cause any smoke to remain near the sfc (should the fire still be going). With better mixing and instability tomorrow, the fire`s smoke plume would be able to mix up into the atmosphere, generally flowing west aloft with time. Could see some light showers Friday evening as a mostly dry cold front moves through, but don`t expect it to bring much precipitation to the area; just a trace to a couple of hundreths of liquid if it even falls. .REST OF TONIGHT...
