.DISCUSSION...
Southeast winds around 10 knots this morning increase to southerly
winds to around 15 knots gusting to around 20 knots this afternooon
and evening. Wave heights around 1 foot are expected today. Dense
fog has been observed within the open lake zone on satellite imagery
and at the East Superior Buoy to the north, but a deck of stratus
clouds with cloud bases around 1,000 ft is obstructing the view of
the water in the vicinity of the spot, so uncertain whether or not
fog is present at that point. Fog is expected to gradually improve
through the day and some lifting and scattering of clouds is expected
in the afternoon hours. Airframe icing is not a threat over Lake
Superior and is only a threat in the Traverse City area at or above
14,000 ft.

Overnight, expect similar conditions to today until a cold front
approaches from the west, with showers arriving as soon as 3 AM EDT
(07Z) with chances of rain and thunderstorms increasing around 8AM
EDT (12Z). Winds shift from southerly around 8AM to westerly by
noon EDT (16Z). Wave heights increase to 2-3 ft by midnight EDT
(04Z).
