...FLASH FLOOD WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 9 PM EDT THIS EVENING
FOR SOUTHEASTERN COCKE COUNTY...

At 802 PM EDT, emergency management reported runoff from earlier
heavy rainfall has produced flooding and a mudslide in the warned
area.  Interstate 40 near the Tennessee and North Carolina border
experienced a closure.

HAZARD...Flash flooding caused by thunderstorms.

SOURCE...Emergency management reported.

IMPACT...Flash flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas,
         highways, streets and underpasses as well as other poor
         drainage and low-lying areas.

Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Round Mountain, Hartford and Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

This includes Interstate 40 in Tennessee between mile markers 445
and 451.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.

Be aware of your surroundings and do not drive on flooded roads.
