800 FXUS65 KMSO 101101 AFDMSO Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Missoula MT 401 AM MST Mon Nov 10 2025 .DISCUSSION... KEY MESSAGES: - Increased winds and scattered showers on today into Tuesday. - Rebounding ridge Wednesday into Thursday with lingering showers. - Cold front Thursday into Friday with cool and showery conditions lingering into Saturday The ridge of high pressure will flatten today as a weak disturbance makes its way through the Northern Rockies. This feature will cause increase westerly winds in the higher terrain especially along the Continental Divide near Glacier NP. Northwest Montana and areas along the Montana/Idaho border have the best potential for receiving precipitation today into Tuesday morning. Snow levels are still anticipated to remain above 7000 feet during this period, so snow will be mainly confined to the higher terrain. The ridge rebounds on Wednesday but models are still indicating a plume of moisture making its way into north central Idaho and northwest Montana causing scattered showers. Once again snow levels will remain high for this time of year, so rain will be the main precipitation type for the majority of the population. The models are showing that the cold front will be pushing through the Northern Rockies late Thursday into Friday morning. The front will bring gusty westerly winds along with falling snow levels. Snow could start to cause some impacts to mountain passes by Friday morning, especially along the Montana/Idaho border. Cool and showery conditions will persist over the region into Saturday. Snow levels are anticipated to drop to around 3000 feet by Saturday morning, so snow could be experienced at most elevations. && .AVIATION...Patchy fog has developed across the Northern Rockies this morning.
