Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Wrn Montana and N Cntrl Idaho
National Weather Service Missoula MT
357 AM MDT Tue Jul 15 2025

.DISCUSSION...

Idaho (Zones 102 and 103): A cold front approaching from the north will
bring northerly winds and cooler daytime high temperatures. Some
instability will result in a slight chance for afternoon thunderstorms.
Expect decreasing clouds and seasonable temperatures on Wednesday. A
warming, drying trend will take place through the end of the week.

Northwest MT (Zones 104 and 105): A strong low pressure circulation will
bring rain to northwest Montana today. Wetting rains are likely, with
the highest rain amounts of 0.50 to 1.00 inches in Glacier Park and
northern sections of the Flathead by this afternoon. The Kootenai can
expect about 0.20 to 0.80 inches. Northeast winds gusting to 40 mph in
the higher terrain will accompany the precipitation. Some instability
will keep a slight chance for thunderstorms in the forecast as well.
Clouds will decrease on Wednesday ahead of a warming and drying trend
taking place through the end of the week.

West Central MT (Zones 106, 107 and 108): A strong low pressure
circulation over northwest Montana will bring rain to west-central
Montana today. Rainfall amounts will decrease from north to south. The
CSKT should see about 0.20 to 0.50 inches, while about 0.10 will be
average for much of the Lolo NF. Northeast winds gusting to about 30 mph
in the higher terrain will accompany the precipitation. Some
instability will keep a slight chance for thunderstorms in the forecast
as well. Clouds will decrease on Wednesday ahead of a warming and drying
trend taking place through the end of the week.

Southwest MT (Zones 109, 110 and 111): A strong low pressure
circulation over northwest Montana will bring chances of rain to
southwest Montana today. Rainfall amounts will be modest, with chances
for wetting rains of about 20-50% on the Beaverhead-Deerlodge and
northern Bitterroot. Some instability will keep a chance for
thunderstorms in the forecast as well. Clouds will decrease on Wednesday
ahead of a warming and drying trend taking place through the end of the
week.
