312 FNUS55 KMSO 142041 FWFMSO Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Wrn Montana and N Cntrl Idaho National Weather Service Missoula MT 241 PM MDT Mon Jul 14 2025 .DISCUSSION... Idaho (Zones 102 and 103): West winds and relative humidity in the teens will continue to cause elevated fire weather conditions today, especially in Zone 102 in the presence of triple digit heat. A cold front will bring a wind shift to the north and east late tonight into Tuesday morning. There are chances for rain on Tuesday, but widespread wetting rain is unlikely. Northwest MT (Zones 104 and 105): West winds will continue before an unseasonably strong cold front moves through northwest Montana from the northeast this evening. Expect winds to become northeasterly with the frontal passage, by about 1700 MDT. Much cooler temperatures, thunderstorms, and rain will accompany the cold front. Wetting rains are likely, with the highest rain amounts of 0.50 to 1.00 inches in Glacier Park and northern sections of the Flathead by Tuesday afternoon. East winds and showers remain through Tuesday. West Central MT (Zones 106, 107 and 108): West winds along with hot, dry conditions will persist today before an unseasonably strong cold front moves through west-central Montana from the northeast tonight. Expect winds to become easterly on the East Lolo (Zone 108) overnight tonight. Winds on the CSKT will become mostly northeasterly, with easterlies coming down from the Mission mountains east of about Highway 93. The West Lolo will also see northeasterly winds overnight tonight, transitioning to east winds by Tuesday afternoon. Cooler temperatures and widespread rain will accompany the cold front. Southwest MT (Zones 109, 110 and 111): Increasing west winds, hot temperatures, and relative humidity in the teens will result in elevated fire weather conditions today. A strong cold front moving south out of Canada will arrive tonight, leading to gusty north to east winds, cooler temperatures, and higher humidity. There are increasing chances for thunderstorms (50-60% chance) on Tuesday afternoon for the Beaverhead-Deerlodge NF.
