Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Wrn Montana and N Cntrl Idaho
National Weather Service Missoula MT
205 PM MDT Mon Sep 1 2025

.DISCUSSION...

Idaho (Zones 102 and 103): A ridge of high pressure will maintain hot
and dry conditions through mid-week. The primary concerns will be poor
overnight RH recoveries in the thermal belts and persistent
northeasterly winds. Modest instability and moisture will be just
enough for isolated convection this afternoon from 1500-1900, and again
for Tuesday. Smoke from regional fires will continue to cause hazy
conditions. The ridge will begin weakening by the end, with widespread
showers and thunderstorms potentially returning over the weekend.

Northwest MT (Zones 104 and 105): A ridge of high pressure will maintain hot
and dry conditions through mid-week. The primary concerns will be poor
overnight RH recoveries in the thermal belts and persistent
easterly winds. Modest instability and moisture will be just enough for
isolated convection this afternoon from 1500-1900, and again for
Tuesday. Smoke from regional fires will continue to cause hazy
conditions. The ridge will begin weakening by the end of weak with
increasing easterly winds Friday. Widespread showers and thunderstorms
are possible over the weekend.

West Central MT (Zones 106, 107 and 108): A ridge of high pressure will
maintain hot and dry conditions through mid-week. The primary concerns
will be poor overnight RH recoveries in the thermal belts and
persistent easterly winds. Modest instability and moisture will remain
over the region the next couple days, though any convection development
is expected to be north of I-90. Smoke from regional fires will continue
to cause hazy conditions. The ridge will begin weakening by the end of
weak with increasing easterly winds Friday. Widespread showers and
thunderstorms are possible over the weekend.

Southwest MT (Zones 109, 110 and 111): A ridge of high pressure will
maintain hot and dry conditions through mid-week. The primary concerns
will be poor overnight RH recoveries in the thermal belts and persistent
northeasterly winds. Modest instability and moisture will remain over
the region the next couple days, though any convection development is
expected to be north of I-90. Smoke from regional fires will continue to
cause hazy conditions. The ridge will begin weakening by the end of
weak with increasing northeasterly winds Friday. Widespread showers and
thunderstorms are possible over the weekend.
