Idaho (Zones 102 and 103): Warm temperatures will continue today, with north-northwest breezes developing by mid-late afternoon. Scattered thunderstorms will develop early Friday morning into the afternoon, with gusty winds, small hail, and brief heavy rain. Growing confidence for cooler temperatures and wetting rains this upcoming weekend. Currently, there is a 80 percent probability for widespread one half inch of rainfall through Sunday across the Nez Perce-Clearwater NF, and a 70% chance for 0.10 inches of rain across the Camas Prairie and Palouse. Northwest MT (Zones 104 and 105): High pressure remains in place through this afternoon, with light and terrain driven winds. Scattered thunderstorms will develop early Friday morning into the afternoon, with gusty winds, small hail, and brief heavy rain. High confidence for cooler temperatures, wetting rains, and high elevation snow this upcoming weekend as a closed low moves into the region. There`s a 50 to 90 percent chance of 1 inch or more of rain across the region this weekend with the lower chances near 50 percent in the southern portions of the zones and the higher chances of 80 to 90 percent along the Canadian border and the Continental Divide. Snow levels along the Continental Divide this weekend may drop below 5,000 ft. West Central MT (Zones 106, 107 and 108): Warm temperatures will continue today, with north-northwest breezes developing by mid-late afternoon. Scattered thunderstorms will develop early Friday morning into the afternoon, with gusty winds, small hail, and brief heavy rain. Growing confidence for cooler temperatures and wetting rains this upcoming weekend. Currently, there is a 70 to 90 percent probability for widespread one half inch of rainfall through Sunday. Southwest MT (Zones 109, 110 and 111): Scattered thunderstorms could bring strong gusty winds this afternoon and evening. Another round of storms is expected Friday, focusing along and west of the divide, with storms producing gusty winds, hail, and brief heavy rain. A surface low will bring strong winds across the East Beaverhead today and Friday, with widespread gusts of 30-45 mph.
