Increasing clouds and southerly winds on Tuesday ahead of the
incoming weather system. A few rain showers possible on Tuesday
across the far North Bay near the Mendocino county line but the rest
of the Bay Area and Central Coast will remain dry on Tuesday.
Southerly winds will begin to increase late Tuesday afternoon and
evening with gusts to 45 mph, strongest along the coast and in the
hills. The main cold front moves through Tuesday night into
Wednesday morning with heavy rain and possible thunderstorms for the
North Bay. The front will rapidly shift southward during the day on
Wednesday and weaken south of San Francisco. Rain totals of 1 to
2 inches for the North Bay with up to 1.50 inches for the Santa Cruz
mountains and Santa Lucia range with lesser amounts for the interior
valleys and little or no rain south of Pinnacles. Rain will end by
Wednesday evening then dry weather returns Thursday through the
weekend with the next storm possible beyond Veterans Day.

...Discussion from SFOFWFEKA...

Dry weather will last through much of the morning across the area
today as a low pressure offshore tracks northeast toward Oregon.
Southerly winds will be favored for the higher ridges and areas
near the coast. Rain will probably begin by late afternoon after
about 1 or 2 PM for mostly coastal portions of Del Norte and
Humboldt. By 5 and 6 PM heavier rain will spread across the North
Coast and sag southward overnight. Rain increases overnight with
highest amounts over the coastal ranges. A significant storms will
bring strong winds and heavy rain Tuesday night and Wednesday.
