988 FXUS63 KOAX 020443 AFDOAX Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Omaha/Valley NE 1143 PM CDT Mon Sep 1 2025 .KEY MESSAGES... - Following heavy rainfall over the weekend, flooding is expected to continue into Tuesday along some rivers, streams, and creeks in portions of southeast Nebraska. - Fog will lead to poor visibility overnight into Tuesday morning across much of the area. Expect a slow morning commute in some locations. - Unseasonably cool weather will continue through the end of the work week, with a few chances for showers/storms. && .DISCUSSION... Issued at 334 PM CDT Mon Sep 1 2025 An area of low pressure currently sits over southeastern Nebraska, with continued shower activity across primarily southeastern Nebraska, although a few light returns are being picked up on radar across western Iowa. Moderate rainfall may be possible at times, causing some reductions to visibility. Shower activity will end northwest to southeast late this afternoon/early evening as the low slides southeast into northern Missouri. Light and variable winds are expected tonight into Tuesday morning. This, combined with cool temperatures and recent moisture will pose a concern for some fog development across the region, but particularly for low-lying areas. Tuesday, will be fairly quiet with dry conditions expected as we come under northwest flow, with a broad upper trough to the east. Temperatures for this time of the year range from the low to mid-80s for highs and the mid-50s to low 60s for lows. Tuesday`s expected highs will range from the mid-70s across western Iowa and areas along and south of the Hwy 92 corridor to the low 80s along the NE/SD state line. A cold front slips south into the region on Wednesday, bringing another shot of cooler air. Expected highs will range from the mid- 60s in the north, to the mid-70s along and south of I-80. Low temperatures Wednesday night/Thursday morning will fall into the low to mid-40s. Shower and thunderstorm chances (20-50%) will return to the forecast for the daytime hours, tapering off from north to south in the evening. Thursday brings a brief warm up and dry conditions before another cold front arrives on Friday. The cool down back into the 60s will be short-lived. Expect a gradual warming trend heading into the weekend, with highs in the 60s and 70s and lows in the 40s and 50s. && .AVIATION /06Z TAFS THROUGH 06Z WEDNESDAY/... Issued at 1143 PM CDT Mon Sep 1 2025 Fog has started to develop and will continue to overspread much of the area overnight. Biggest questions will be exact timing and southern extent of the lowest visibility, but we`ve seen development earlier than guidance has depicted and clouds have cleared out a little faster than expected. Therefore, expect fog at all sites with OMA and OFK more likely to see LIFR conditions. Fog is expected to dissipate by 14-15Z with some scattered clouds around 2000-4000 ft lingering through the day. Winds should largely remain under 5 kts, settling in at southwesterly through the day on Tuesday. && .OAX WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES... NE...None. IA...None. && $$ DISCUSSION...ANW AVIATION...CA
