Public Information Statement
National Weather Service Omaha/Valley NE

Otoe County Nebraska is normally served by three NOAA Weather Radio
Stations originating out of Omaha, Lincoln and Shubert Nebraska.
However, due to damage caused by ice this past winter, the Shubert
NOAA Weather Radio signal has been degraded and is no longer able to
reach all of Otoe County. A fix for the Shubert transmitter is
expected to be completed in June.

To temporarily help fill in the gaps in coverage, the Essex Iowa
NOAA Weather Radio station has been programmed to provide hazard
information for Otoe County, including severe thunderstorm and
tornado watches and warnings, as well as flood and flash flood
watches and warnings.

So until a fix to Shubert can be completed, people in Otoe County
Nebraska can tune to the following NOAA Weather Radio stations:

Omaha weather radio station KIH61, at frequency 162.4 MHz, covers
mainly the northern part of Otoe County.

Lincoln weather radio station WXM20, at frequency 162.475 MHz,
covers the western half of Otoe County.

Essex weather radio station KZZ50, at frequency 162.55 MHz, covers
at least the eastern part of Otoe County.

Also, you may have to rely on a secondary method to get your weather
watches and warnings, including emergency alerts on cell phones,
television or radio stations, or the internet.
