246 FXUS64 KOHX 291706 AFDOHX Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Nashville TN 1206 PM CDT Fri Aug 29 2025 ...New AVIATION... .KEY MESSAGES... Updated at 1200 PM CDT Fri Aug 29 2025 - Seasonal temperatures through the weekend with some cooling next week. - A generally dry pattern will last through the weekend. Expect low to medium rain chances from Labor Day into Thursday, then dry conditions return. && .SHORT TERM... (Rest of today through Saturday) Issued at 1014 AM CDT Fri Aug 29 2025 Quite weather continues heading into the weekend as surface high pressure remains overhead. Aloft, in the mid-levels, a trough drapes over the NE while a ridge builds over the southern plains. This keeps TN stuck in the middle of the two features, promoting that dry NW flow we`ve been seeing. Highs this afternoon climb into the upper 80s and again on Saturday, but as we`ve been seeing, dewpoints are in the 50s allowing for that dry heat feeling. With that dry air aloft, sunny skies will continue through Saturday. Overnight, lows dip down into the 50s, just enough for some to grab a light jacket. Winds aren`t too strong today, but will pick up slightly on Saturday with increased flow aloft. Looking at NE winds around 10 mph, gusting around 12-15 mph through Saturday afternoon. && .LONG TERM... (Saturday Night through next Friday) Issued at 1014 AM CDT Fri Aug 29 2025 By early next week, the ridge becomes more amplified over the west while a few short waves swing through the trough. This brings some low to medium chances for precipitation Monday through Thursday. Under this pattern we will see temperatures drop back into the 70s and low 80s during the day while overnight lows remain about the same in the upper 50s to low 60s. At this time, Wednesday looks to offer the most widespread chances for showers as our moisture support and mid-level flow increases. A cold front passes through by the end of the week bringing more dry weather, highs in the upper 70s, and overnight temperatures in the low 50s. && .AVIATION... (18Z TAFS) Issued at 1200 PM CDT Fri Aug 29 2025 Surface ridge is building into Middle Tennessee today, hence the sunshine and light wind. The atmosphere across the mid state remains dry and stable, so the TAFs are VFR. && .PRELIMINARY POINT TEMPS/POPS...
