Updated at 600 AM CDT Mon Sep 1 2025 - Low to medium rain chances return to the forecast starting on Labor Day. Severe weather is not expected. - Temperatures in the upper 70s to mid 80s for highs through the forecast period. && .SHORT TERM... (Tonight through Tuesday Night) Issued at 1028 PM CDT Sun Aug 31 2025 Satellite shows some mid to upper level clouds moving in from the NW this evening. Expect overnight lows to dip into the upper 50s and low 60s. Labor Day should be quiet for many of us, with highs in the upper 70s to upper 80s. However, rain chances increase in the afternoon for areas mainly south of I-40 and east of I-65. This increase in rain chances is due to the development of an inverted surface trough over the region. If you plan on enjoying Labor Day outside, just be aware of your thunderstorm risk for the day and know where to shelter if thunder roars! && .LONG TERM... (Wednesday through next Monday) Issued at 1028 PM CDT Sun Aug 31 2025 Guidance shows that rain chances will only increase into the work week. Tuesday into Wednesday looks like our greatest risk, with a medium-high (70-80%) chance of a wetting rain, which is at least 0.10". Once you bump up accumulation to half an inch, chances drop into the low category (20-30%). Thursday brings another opportunity for low to medium rain chances, but after that, things dry out. Temperatures look to stay in the upper 70s to mid 80s through the work week, adding to days with below normal temperatures for this time of year. && .AVIATION... (12Z TAFS) Issued at 600 AM CDT Mon Sep 1 2025 VFR conditions prevail at this time with just SCT to BKN mid and high-level clouds. Isolated showers and thunderstorms develop this afternoon, however, probabilities and confidence in direct impacts and timing to terminals remains too low to include in TAFs. There`s a low chance for showers to continue into the overnight hours as well. Otherwise, northeasterly winds will become southeasterly this morning, but remain light at around 5-10 knots. && .PRELIMINARY POINT TEMPS/POPS...
