The Flood Watch will expire for portions of southern Connecticut, including the following areas, Northern Fairfield, Northern New Haven and Southern Fairfield, northeast New Jersey, including the following areas, Eastern Bergen, Eastern Essex, Eastern Passaic, Eastern Union, Hudson, Western Bergen, Western Essex, Western Passaic and Western Union, and southeast New York, including the following areas, Bronx, Kings (Brooklyn), New York (Manhattan), Northern Queens, Northern Westchester, Orange, Putnam, Richmond (Staten Island), Rockland, Southern Queens and Southern Westchester. The flash flooding threat has ended as earlier heavy downpours and thunderstorms have weakened and moved east of the watch areas. Therefore, the Flood Watch will expire at midnight EDT tonight. Although additional flash flooding is not expected, minor small stream flooding is still occurring across portions of northeastern NJ and the Lower Hudson Valley, where some areas saw as much as 4 to 6 inches of rainfall this afternoon and evening.
