The National Weather Service in Upton has extended the

* Flash Flood Warning for...
  Southern Fairfield County in southern Connecticut...
  East Central Bergen County in northeastern New Jersey...
  Rockland County in southeastern New York...
  Southern Westchester County in southeastern New York...

* Until 915 PM EDT.

* At 756 PM EDT, emergency management reported thunderstorms
  producing heavy rain across the warned area. Between 3 and 3.5
  inches of rain have fallen. Additional rainfall amounts of 0.5 to
  1 inch are possible in the warned area. Flash flooding is already
  occurring.

  HAZARD...Life threatening flash flooding. Thunderstorms
           producing flash flooding.

  SOURCE...Emergency management reported.

  IMPACT...Life threatening flash flooding of creeks and streams,
           urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses.

* Some locations that will experience flash flooding include...
  Stamford, White Plains, Port Chester, Dobbs Ferry, Tappan,
  Greenwich, Harrison, Scarsdale, Norwood, River Vale, Rye Brook,
  Closter, Hastings-on-Hudson, Greenville, Irvington, Old Tappan,
  Hartsdale, Harrington Park, Northvale and Ardsley.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Move to higher ground now! This is a dangerous and life-threatening
situation. Do not attempt to travel unless you are fleeing an area
subject to flooding or under an evacuation order.

Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood
deaths occur in vehicles.
