northeast New Jersey and southeast New York.

There is a chance for scattered severe thunderstorms Thursday
afternoon and evening that may bring damaging wind gusts along with
heavy rain, frequent lightning, and hail.

The confidence in an extended period of high heat and humidity is
increasing for early next week. The heat may begin on Sunday and
linger through Wednesday, peaking on Monday and Tuesday. Lows at
night may not offer much relief with high humidity persisting.
Continue to monitor the forecast for details on this potentially
significant heat wave.
