.DISCUSSION...
Elevated fire weather conditions continue to be a concern into Saturday.
The very dry fuels which are susceptible to fire starts/wildfires along
with southerly winds at 10-20 mph and low RHs in the 20-30% range will
lead to the elevated concerns. The most likely area this afternoon is
generally along/south of I-40 and along/west of I-35. On Saturday this
area will expand east of I-35 but still generally south of I-40.
Rain chances will begin Saturday afternoon in NW OK and spread east and
south Saturday night into Sunday. Strong, variable wind gusts will be
possible near some of the storms. A cold front and outflow boundaries
moving across the area will also lead to wind shifts and possible change
in speeds this weekend which would be problematic for any ongoing fires.
Cooler temperatures and hopefully some rain should help alleviate fire
weather concerns, at least for a short time, next week.
