.DISCUSSION...
Primary forecast challenge for Knox County area today will be wind
direction. A weak surface low forms very near the burn site by
about 10:00 am. Fortunately, the pressure gradient is so weak
that surface winds will rarely exceed 12 mph. Current expectation
is for those winds to shift to near due westerly for much of the
morning and then closer to due northerly for the afternoon, but
uncertainty/potential for error is higher than normal. Air temp
will rise to around 100 by late afternoon with RH getting down to
a little above 20 percent. There is a 10-20 percent chance that
small showers/thunderstorms develop over Knox County by about 4:00
pm and move away to the southeast. Potential for lightning
strikes and erratic wind gusts if those showers come to fruition.
