.DISCUSSION...
Issued at 221 AM CDT Sat Aug 2 2025

Cooler Canadian high pressure will settle over the region today
into Sunday, bringing cooler than normal temperatures and
comfortable humidity levels this weekend. Temperatures will be
about 5-10 degrees below normal with highs in the lower 80s and
overnight lows in the lower to middle 60s. Sunday afternoon, a
trough over the East Coast will begin to retrograde into the
region, and a stray shower or thunderstorm or two is possible in
the KY Pennyrile.

Daily shower and thunderstorm chances (roughly 15-40%) are
forecast Monday through Wednesday as troughing increases over
the eastern CONUS. Overall, the greatest chances of
precipitation looks to occur on Tuesday as a shortwave lifts
through the region. Precipitation coverage will be greatest east
of the Mississippi River where the H5 troughing aloft will be
deeper. As H5 ridging increases from west to east over the
region, dry conditions are forecast Thursday and Friday.

Temperature and humidity levels will gradually return to normal
values by Wednesday and the second half of the week. High
temperatures will reach the upper 80s to lower 90s with
overnight lows in the upper 60s to lower 70s. Dew point
temperatures will also return to the upper 60s to lower 70s, so
humidity levels will also be noticeable.
