...Feedback Requested Due To Elizabeth Lock And Dam Decommission...

The National Weather Service (NWS) in Pittsburgh is requesting partner feedback
due to the decommission of the Elizabeth Lock and Dam in July 2024.

NWS Pittsburgh wants to propose changing forecasts from daily (meaning they
are issued once a day) to high water (meaning that would only be issued when
the gauge is forecasted to be considered "Action" or higher).

Before changes are made, NWS Pittsburgh would like to know how this affects
partner operations.

The upper (pool) gauge will remain in service during the demolition but
flow/discharge will no longer be measured with the changes anticipated while
it is being demoed. This will lead to some uncertainty in the river forecasts
during this time. The proposed plan would be return to daily forecasts once
the pool is stabilized.

Please provide feedback to our Senior Hydrologist, Alicia Miller at
Alicia.A.Miller@noaa.gov
