Fire Weather Planning Forecast for NE Oregon and SE Washington
National Weather Service Pendleton OR
319 PM PDT Wed Jul 16 2025

...FIRE WEATHER WATCH IN EFFECT FROM FRIDAY AFTERNOON THROUGH
FRIDAY EVENING FOR KITTITAS VALLEY...
...RED FLAG WARNING IN EFFECT FROM 1 PM THURSDAY TO 10 PM PDT
FRIDAY FOR WARM SPRINGS RESERVATION, JOHN-DAY VALLEY, LOWER
COLUMBIA BASIN OF WA AND OR, EASTERN COLUMBIA RIVER GORGE, CENTRAL
MOUNTAINS OF OREGON...

.DISCUSSION...Warm, dry, and breezy to windy conditions are expected
Thursday through Friday across portions of central and eastern
Oregon as well as south central Washington, especially through the
Cascade gaps. Strongest winds are expected for Friday poor RHs
expected across the aforementioned areas. Poor to moderate
overnight RH recoveries accompanied by winds will keep the areas
warm and dry. The combination of strong and gusty winds, poor
relative humidity, and warm temperatures can contribute to extreme
fire behavior.

***Winds are 20 foot 10 minute averages***
***CWR-chance of wetting rain 0.10 or greater***
***Ventilation Index is derived from the
transport wind multiplied by the mixing
height in 100`s of feet. Index categories
are a generalized indicator and users are
encourage to develop criteria that are
   suitable and representative of dispersion
conditions in their local area of interest.***
Note: Max transport winds may not occur
at the same time as max mixing height.
